Michael A. Tyner, MD

Michael A. Tyner, MDDr. Tyner graduated with honors from Wake Forest University in 1979. He completed medical school and his general surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Tyner began his professional career with Easley Surgical Associates of Easley, SC in 1988. In 1990, he joined Four Counties Surgical clinic in Henderson, NC, and then Pinehurst Surgical Associates of Pinehurst, NC in 1992. In 1997, Dr. Tyner joined Executive Surgical Center in Raleigh, NC, where he focused his attention in Cary, NC. He went onto become a founding partner of Cary Surgical Specialists in 2003. Dr. Tyner is certified by the American Board of Surgeons.

His areas of expertise and special interest lie primarily in advanced laparoscopic surgery of the GI tract. He has studied anti-reflux surgery with world renowned surgeons, using his knowledge to teach and mentor surgeons in the most current techniques. He has incorporated minimally invasive procedures to diagnosis of breast disease with ultrasound and x-ray guided breast biopsies.


Jon-Michael Bruce, MD

Dr. Bruce was raised in Western New York. He graduated from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, New York. He then studied medicine and completed a general surgery residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He graduated with honors from college and medical school and won several teaching awards during residency.

Upon completion of his surgical training Dr. Bruce entered active duty in the United States Army.  He was initially stationed in Heidelberg, Germany and was assigned to the 212th MASH, fulfilling a lifetime dream of becoming “Hawkeye Pierce”. He was deployed twice to the Balkan Peninsula during the Kosovo conflict.   He finished his military obligation at Fort Hood, Texas and received an Honorable Discharge. He spent the past four years in private practice in central Georgia, while also serving as clinical faculty for Mercer University.

Dr. Bruce has extensive training in advanced laparoscopic techniques, studying at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France as well as many post-residency courses and training sessions since. Dr. Bruce is a Board Certified Surgeon and an active member of the Society of Advanced Gastroendoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a fellow of the American Hernia Society. His professional interests are primarily in laparoscopic and breast surgery, but he enjoys a well-rounded surgical experience.

His personal interests include spending time with his family, traveling, music, and maintaining an active lifestyle. Dr. Bruce and his wife Tina recently relocated to Cary from Georgia with their four children; Christina (10), Courtney (8), Jacob (5), and Jenna (2).  He and his family are excited to call the Triangle home.

Paul E. Enochs, MD, FACS

Dr. Paul Enochs received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed his surgery residency at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama where his primary focus and specialization was with advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery. He received additional fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery at the University of California - San Francisco, the Carolinas Medical Center, the Medical College of Virginia, and the Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Enochs is a Board Certified Surgeon, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is the first and most experienced bariatric surgeon in the Raleigh area having done Raleigh's first Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and Lap Band procedure. Dr. Enochs has done more bariatric procedures in the Triangle area than any other surgeon.





Will Hawkins, PA-C

Paul E. Enochs, MD, FACS

Mr. Hawkins is originally from the deep south of Louisiana. His medical career began as a United States Army Special Forces Medical Sergeant and his military service brought him to Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1992. During his tenure as a medic he worked in numerous remote locations throughout Central and South America where he was often afforded the opportunity to provide general medical care to impoverished villages within the region. As a soldier, he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio for the Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic course where he was nationally certified and registered as a paramedic. Mr. Hawkins also served as a section leader and sector medical officer for a multinational peacekeeping force in Yugoslavia during the conflict between Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia in the mid-1990’s.

He was honorably discharged from the Army in 2000 and shortly thereafter attended Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Additionally, he was inducted into the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society. He later attended graduate school at East Carolina University and received his Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies and is nationally certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. He has also received past training and certification from the Subcommittee on Advanced Trauma Life Support of the American College of Surgeons.

Mr. Hawkins now calls North Carolina his home and feels very blessed with the life that he shares with his wife Tracey and two young sons; Hunter and Tristan. When time permits, he enjoys scuba diving, rock climbing or jumping onto the back of his old Harley-Davidson and exploring our great state; however, his greatest enjoyment in life comes from simply being a “Daddy.”
